Dealing with the issue of a single woman living independently in our society, the movie ‘Third Person Singular Number’ asks an inevitable question- is she always meant to be treated as an outcast?
If the subject itself does not excite you, than be informed, that the movie will be packed with dialogue scripted by none other than the dynamic duo of Mostafa Sarwar Farooki and Anisul Huq, while the music score will be done by contemporary musician Topu.
After the success of ‘Bachelor’ and ‘Made in Bangladesh’, this will be Farooki’s third full feature film and it promises to be a trailblazer deviating from the first two in content and style, yet retaining Farooki’s signature perks.
To start, Farooki never ceases enthuse audiences with his out-of-the-box titles. This time around, Farooki could not have chosen a better name to capture the plight of single woman by using a phrase from the grammar books, which has also become a popular Bangla slang, suggesting a variety of things.
The movie will introduce on the screen for the first time young, revered vocalist and guitarist Topu, of the music band Yaatri, joined by a stellar cast of Mosharraf Karim, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Marjuk Russel, Shahir Huda Rumi, Farhan and more.
Inspired by the novel ‘Tin Porber Jibon’ by Syed Manzurul Islam and some real life case studies, cinematography by Subroto Ripon, the movie has brought together a wide variety of talent and ideas.
A lead character of this film will be played by Mosharraf Karim.
‘This is my first film with Farooki. Previously, I did perform in his serial dramas and telefilms. I am primarily excited and motivated because of the script and because Farooki is the director. He can bring out the best within an actor and working for him is always a great challenge’.
Tisha was very animated while talking about the movie.
‘This film is emotional for a number of reasons. Mainly, this will be my debut film and secondly, the character I am playing, requires heavy emotional acting and if I don’t do my part properly, this film might very well become a flop,’ she says seriously.
‘It is a huge challenge, first of all, because I am emotionally attached to this production since this is my first appearance on silver screen and secondly, critics will be eyeing it sharply.’
Farooki is introducing musician, Topu as a prime character in this film. When asked, Topu said he loves doing music because it is his passion and he loves doing music to experience purity and untainted fun.
‘Performing in this movie is very similar to composing music. It is not about changing tracks like shifting from music to movies or anything in particular, it is just the sheer excitement of working with a director as big as Farooki.’
‘The name of my character in the movie is also Topu and this character is a singer whose words and tunes will narrate the gist of the film…even when fans will hum the songs’, added Topu, smiling.
Armed with a soundtrack full of depth and tunes, the songs are written and composed by Topu himself and Fuad Al-Muqtadir and sung by Sumon, Anila and Topu – an additional treat for the movie-goers.
Farooki says, ‘this movie will differ from my other films treatment wise. This will have components of European avant-garde documentary films and instead of humour; this will be an emotional story circling a young couple’.

‘We are working with the final version of the movie’s script and the shooting will start from July 21. With the movie website under construction, fans will be able to know more about the status of the movie production by typing ‘chabial (vai-beradar)’ on the social networking site Facebook’ added Farooki.

Shahrukh Khan - The King Is Thrown Out Of Pepsi Commercials

Shah Rukh Khan is no longer the brand ambassador of Pepsi. SRK when asked in regards to the same has sarcastically stated, “I am no longer a part of their campaign. They have thrown me out and I am jobless now.” SRK’s contract with Pepsi had got over in end 2008 and he was looking forward to a renewed contract with a much higher price as well.

Sources revealed, “The new Youngistaan campaign focuses completely on targeting the younger generation and Shah Rukh doesn’t seem to fit in that. Ranbir Kapoor who has already been on the Pepsi brigade shall be spearheading this upcoming campaign. The company however is still in negotiations for working out a deal for Khan’s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming season but it appears unlikely that he will go in for it.”

Pepsi had earlier dropped their cricket star ambassadors Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly. They had very recently shot ads with new entrant Ishant Sharma along with Dhoni and Sehwag. Source

Preity Zinta - On The Verge Of Winning An International Award

After her superb performance in ‘The Last Lear’; Preity Zinta, has again proved her mettle by getting nominated for Deepa Mehta’s ‘Heaven on Earth’ yet again. The actor has been nominated for the internationally acclaimed Genie Awards. She has been nominated under the ‘Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role’ category; The film has also been nominated for Best Original Screenplay.

Shahrukh’s Shoulder Surgery - A 100% Success For Doctors

Bollywood King Khan Shah Rukh Khan underwent a successful shoulder surgery at the Breach Candy hospital in south Mumbai today and will be discharged in a couple of days, a source close to the actor said. The surgery continued for one and half hour and was a complete success.

The actor had to undergo an arthroscopic surgery for a nagging pain in left shoulder. Though he had planned to fly to London for the surgery, he chose to get it done in Mumbai under the guidance of Dr. Sanjay Desai’s team, the orthopaedic surgeon at Breach Candy.

A source had told: “For Shah Rukh, the last few months have been quite busy professionally. There was Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi promotion as well as the shoot of Dulha Mil Gaya. Then he couldn’t have backed out of My Name is Khan, which had anyways been pushed ahead by a few months.
“Moreover, he had to return to India for the publicity of ‘Billu’. Though doctors had suggested a surgery on an ASAP note, he didn’t want the film to suffer. So, even with a sling on, he went through the entire promotional campaign. It was painful but he is passionate about his films and kept smiling.” Source

Hrithik’s Upcoming Film ‘Kites’ Has A Breathtaking Climax

Anurag Basu - the director of ‘Kites’ wants the viewers to be thrilled by the movie’s ending. So a nail-biting action sequence – apparently inspired from ‘Bad Boys 2’ and ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ – was incorporated in the film’s climax.

Shot in Santa Fe in New Mexico, the chase sequence had the villain pushing the cars off an automobile trailer. It was shot under the guidance of action director Dick Ziker. Reports have it that before the sequence was shot, producer Rakesh Roshan bought a good number of second-hand cars and got them painted to make them look new.

However, when the sequence was shot, the Roshans weren’t apparently happy with Dick Ziker’s direction. Later, they re-shot the sequence with action director Spiro Razatos. One of the most anticipated films of this year, ‘Kites’ stars Hrithik with Mexican beauty Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut . The film’s marketing and distribution rights have reportedly been sold for a whopping amount of Rs. 110 crores to Anil Ambani’s Big Pictures (as reported earlier). Source

Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor and cricket star S Sreesanth have been crowned the winners of PETA India’s annual Sexiest Vegetarians Alive poll. The online contest was conducted by petaDishoom, PETA India’s youth arm. Kapoor and Sreesanth narrowly edged out 2007 winner R Madhavan, model and doctor Aditi Gowitrikar, Pentagram vocalist Vishal Dadlani, film star and Kailasa singer Kailash Kher and many others.

Four-time Filmfare award-winner Kareena Kapoor, who has appeared in more than 31 movies, captured the female title for the second year in a row.

“When you look at the dozens of gorgeous celebrities in this year’s poll, there are no bones about it – a vegetarian diet makes you beautiful inside and out”, says PETA India’s Anuradha Sawhney. “After all, going vegetarian is the best thing you can do for the animals, the Earth and your health. Aamir Khan - Planning A Different Film On Farmers

Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s creativity has never remained hidden. He’s planning a different film now, based on a whole new idea of farmers’ plight in Bhopal. It’s about the crises faced by farmers, many of who end up even committing suicide.

Anusha Rizvi, a former journalist who has actual experience of reporting such incidents, will reportedly direct this movie.The film is largely based on Anusha’s personal experiences. The very talented Raghuvir Yadav is tipped to play the main protagonist. He will be playing a journalist who fights for the right of the farmers.

Aamir was involved with the Narmada Bachao Andolan and has been verbal about many social issues. This film too would be an eye-opener film with this subject, much like his earlier films like ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Taare Zameen Par’.

His other production ‘Delhi Belly’ is being shot for and has Imran Khan in the lead. His wife Kiran Rao’s ‘Dhobhi Ghat’ is also into production. Shahrukh’s “Billu” Once Again Between Controversies

The workers of MNS in Mumbai today launched a peaceful protest against screening of the film ‘Billu’ for its song ‘Marjaani‘, which allegedly contains “objectionable words”.

The film produced by Red Chillies Productions, partly owned by Shahrukh Khan had to be renamed ‘Billu’ from ‘Billu Barber’ after some barber associations objected to use of the word “barber” in the title.

“There is a song in the film called Marjaani, which contains some objectionable words. We had requested the producer on phone to remove those words but they remained adamant. This is why we have launched a peaceful agitation to remove the whole song from the film,” MNS Secretary Aslam Bhai Khot told reporters.

Meanwhile, the film’s leading actor Irrfan Khan, who plays the title role of ‘Billu’ has expressed his surprise at the protest. “The misunderstanding regarding the song had been cleared by Shahrukh Khan. What is the basis of this protest except that they need public attention,” Irrfan said. Source

We’ve already reported about the fact how Himesh Reshammiya had refused to sing for A R Rahman. But Rahman says he has never met Reshammiya.

Laughs the soft spoken maestro sarcastically, “Our communication has been only through the press. He told the press he wanted to sing for me. I told the press I had composed a song that would suit his voice. To this he replied again through the press that he didn’t want to sing for me. We’ve not met. We haven’t exchanged a call or an sms.”

Rahman finds it strange that after hounding him for so long Reshammiya changed his mind. “For the past two years I had been reading about how he wanted to sing for me. As a gesture returning his compliment I thought this song would be perfect. I didn’t know he would sing for me only when I compose for a film starring him. After the super success of Rock On, Arjun Rampal is now ready to turn mean with his shrewd politician act in Prakash Jha’s Rajniti. Presently he is in Bhopal and closely watching the local politicians preparing for the poll campaigning for a seat in the forthcoming Lok Sabha.

“My role in Rajniti is very challenging and at the same time really interesting. I play the role of a politician, who carries a lot of influence in North Indian states such as Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. We are shooting in Bhopal right now to lend authenticity to the subject.”

Arjun further added, “Prakashji had recommended me few books and articles on politicians to prepare for the role so I read several of these books at the library at the Bhopal University. But I can’t reveal on which real life politician. I really can’t take the name of the politician as I’m not allowed to speak about him right now.”

Aishwarya Rai In Kolkata To Shoot For “Ravana”

In the recent time, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been traveling to many cities across the world to promote her Hollywood film Pink Panther 2 . But now she’s headed homeward and is bound for Kolkata to join the shoot of Ratnam’s film Ravana .

The movie would reportedly be shot at Vedic Village in the Rajarhat area that’s just in the suburbs of Kolkata. It is learnt that the shooting location was suggested by the film’s designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and art director Samir Chanda.

Abhishek is presently busy promoting his next release Delhi 6 and will join Ash in Kolkata only after the film’s release on February 20.

The shooting will continue till March beginning. Mani will reportedly shoot the film’s climax in this schedule. Source

Kareena Kapoor is a drastically changed woman post dating Saif Ali Khan. A close friend of Madhur revealed, “Madhur took his lead actor Neil Nitin Mukesh to a Thane jail recently so that the two can observe for themselves what a jail actually looks like. The two didn’t get to interact with the prisoners as there were some rules to be followed.”

Sushmita Sen’s “Rani Laxmi Bai” Shelved ?

Sushmita Sen is planning to go in for a co-production of the dream project the mega budgeted historical war epic Rani Laxmi Bai with legendary filmmaker Manmohan Desai sharing the humongous Rs. 130 crore budget.

The film was to be shot on location in Madhya Pradesh and also a huge set was being planned to be erected at Mumbai’s Filmcity. With recession creeping in most of Bollywood’s big projects have either been kept on hold or postponed indefinitely or shelved.

Pressing aside rumors, Sushmita’s spokesperson states, “It is false news that the film has been shelved. It is in fact been put on hold because of the credit crunch. Sushmita is still busy working on the research aspect of the movie.”

Co-producer Ketan Desai also added, “It is a huge project and such a subject requires to be nurtured properly and presently we are still at a stage where we are working on it. The whole of Bollywood has been affected by the recession to some extent. This time will pass.” Source

Upon Shipa’s request, film maker Ken Ghosh who had stopped calling the shots for music videos has agreed to direct the video featuring the song that will be titled ‘Halla Bol’.

The song can be expected to be a chartbuster and the talk of the town as Shipa herself will be the centre point grooving to the tune.

‘Halla Bol’ having its roots in folk music has been set to tune by Anand Raj Anand. Shilpa talking about the song said “We chose Anand Raj Anand because he is an expert at catchy folk songs. I first worked in a film with his music when he scored for ‘Pardesi Babu’. I was simply bowled over by the numbers. Today when I hear the song he has composed for our team, I feel deeply enthused”.

Shahrukh To Co-produce “My Name Is Khan” Alongwith Karan

Till date Shahrukh was just the leading actor in Karan Johar’s next directorial venture My Name Is Khan but now the superstar has decided to co-produce the film. The decision apparently came after Karan told the actor that he can’t underpay him (Karan thinks SRK is “beyond any remuneration”) and the best remuneration Karan can afford is to let SRK have a stake in the film.

Good friend of Johar that he is, SRK has agreed to co-produce the film under his banner Red Chillies Entertainment. The two have in the past teamed up as producers for Kaal which was a flop at the box office.

Since ‘My Name Is Khan’ happens to be a big project, and one close to Karan’s heart at that, the director asked SRK to chum in as co-producer “for emotional reasons”.

Moreover, Karan thinks SRK’s wife Gauri Khan (who will be credited as official co-producer of the film) is lucky. On top of it, Karan says he can use SRK’s expertise as producer to good effect for ‘My Name Is Khan’. The movie has Kajol pairing up with SRK after a gap of many years. Source

Amitabh Bachchan - All Praise For The Slumdog… Winners

In his blog recently Amitabh Bachchan described A R Rahman’s Oscar sweep as the happiest day for Indians and the film industry.

The whole of Bollywood has got together to praise A R Rahman and Resul Pookutty after the duo created history on Sunday evening in Los Angeles by winning the Oscars in the categories they were nominated for.

Amitabh Bachchan became one of the first ones by commenting on his blog: “My warmest and heartiest congratulations to A.R. Rahman and Resul (Pookutty) for winning recognition in music and sound and to Gulzar for co-assisting Rahman in the lyric category.”

Gulzar is credited for the lyrics of the song ‘Jai Ho’ which got Rahman the Oscar for Best Song.

He added, “International recognition for Indian film talent on one of the most well-known and popular forums - this is the happiest day for Indians and the industry.” Source

Anil Kapoor Adds Ice On The Cake

The bollywood ace actor Anil Kapoor visited American Idol host Ryan Seacrest who also has his own radio show on a station 102.7 KIIS FM. During his visit, apart from talking about Slumdog Millionaire, Anil also offered his two bits on Frieda and her co-star Dev Patel’s budding friendship.

Dev, 18 and Freida, 24 have been doing the rounds of Hollywood talk shows like The Tonight Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Tyra Banks’ show, Regis and Kelly and others.

During his interaction with Anil, Seacrest asked him point-blank if there’s something going on between Freida and Dev. Anil replied, “As a matter of fact, when I meet them I feel there is something happening,” he said.

“But she says ‘I have to look after him’ and ‘I have to babysit him’ and that kind of stuff… (I think) this is the beginning of something exciting happening.” When asked about what he thinks of the pair, Anil said, “They definitely make a great pair. Both of them look very good together.” Source

Akshay Kumar At The Launch Of Asian Heart Institute’s Cardiac Air Ambulance

Akshay Kumar is one actor who is always known to extend a helping hand to social causes. The ‘Khiladi’ Kumar visited the Asian Heart Institute at BKC and looked on as Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss inaugurated the hospital’s emergency air ambulance service.

The air-ambulance service, priced at Rs.85000, will also be available to patients from rural parts of the state and those seeking treatment at other hospitals. A 24 hour cardiac care helpline has also been launched.

For the time-being, the chopper would land only at Juhu airport and Mahalaxmi racecourse although authorities are requesting MMRDA to construct a helipad atop the Asian Heart Institute. Source

A.R. Rahman Dedicates The Oscar To His Wife

A.R. Rahman who is the toast of the country hasn’t reached this stage without sheer passion for what he does best - music. A.R.Rahman’s brother-in-law, who is also named Rahman, is a well known actor in Kerala and has done roles in many Tamil movies like Sangamam, which again had music by A.R.R. Talking to the media after his brother-in-law won the Oscars, the actor revealed how passionate the maestro is about his music.

“It is his sheer commitment towards music that has brought him here”, says Rahman. He adds that the Mozart of Madras always had his harmonium with him. “Even during his honeymoon in Kodaikanal, we were told that in the middle of the night he was sitting in the next room and playing a harmonium. Such was his dedication”

A.R.R’s ever media-shy wife Saira Banu had walked the red carpet with her husband at the Kodak Theatre for the 81st Annual Academy Awards. Saira Banu was seen clinging to Rahman’s right arm throughout the ceremony. A.R.Rahman before leaving to the US for the Oscars had commented: “In fact winning an Oscar is not my dream, it’s my wife’s dream”.

Anil Kapoor To Make A Film For Daughter Sonam

Anil Kapoor has planned a film called ‘Ayesha’ exclusively for his daughter Sonam Kapoor. He has roped in writer Devika Bhagat to write the narrative of ‘Ayesha’, which is based on Jane Austen’s famous novel ‘Emma’. Sonam gets to play desi Emma, one who is young, witty and rich. Devika has earlier penned the story of Bachna Ae Haseeno .

Sonam will be seen in an ultra-mod chic look for portraying Emma, as Anil Kapoor believes that the story of Emma can be told well in contemporary Indian context. The film will be set in a metropolis. Of late, Sonam has been shedding her traditional looks; her recent photo-shoots (especially for Verve) and public appearances say it all.

Abhay Deol has reportedly been finalized to play the male lead, who is Ayesha’s worst critic as well as the one who secretly loves and cares for her. Newcomer Arunodoy Singh is roped in to play an amiable young flirtatious man whom Ayesha adores and pursues. And VJ Cyrus Sahukar will provide the third angle to the story as a guy who wants to marry Ayesha.

Rumour has it that Anil himself is likely to play the role of Ayesha’s father – an amazing character who’s a hypochondriac highly concerned about the health and safety of his loved ones.

Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto & Dev Patel Dating Each Other

Rohan Antao blames Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire for the reported romance between Freida and her co-star Dev Patel, six years her junior.

“She ended it with me after getting close to Dev Patel. Now everywhere I go I see them on billboards. I am devastated,” the 24-year-old Antao said.

About the Oscar-winning movie, he stated, “I hate the film. It wrecked my relationship. As soon as it became a success and Freida started spending all her time with Dev, she ended it,” he added.

Antao, a Mumbai-based marketing executive, said the two met six years ago. He proposed to her in 2007, but Slumdog Millionare changed their life.

“The film bosses didn’t want her to be engaged. It would affect the whole emphasis of the film the love story. I had no say in it.”

He further claims that he was forced to lie to Danny Boyle about their relationship when they met at a party. “He was very down to earth, but I had to lie all evening and say I was Freida’s boyfriend, not her fiance.”

After seeing Freida with Dev at the Toronto Film Festival in September, Antao said he sent Dev an angry text message saying: “You do know she is engaged, don’t you?” Dev did not reply.

“I feel bitter towards Dev. If you are engaged to someone, the last thing you want to be thinking about is whether Dev Patel is telling her how wonderful she is,” Antao said.

He said he and Freida broke off last month after she called him. “She is infatuated with Dev. I don’t know if they were having a sexual relationship but if I came face to face with him I would have things to say.”
